Trilogy Lacrosse Hires Tenacity Founder Theresa Sherry as VP of Girls Lacrosse

[WESTFIELD, NJ, April 6] Trilogy Lacrosse is thrilled to announce that Theresa Sherry has joined their full-time team as the VP of Girls Lacrosse, effective immediately. The 2004 Princeton graduate and founder of the Tenacity Project brings a wealth of experience not only coaching, but empowering women through sports, which will be instrumental as she helps to build out girls programming for female players of every level.

Sherry will remain on the board of the Tenacity Project and will continue to support the organization’s mission of building strong women both in her role with Trilogy and as a member of Tenacity’s leadership group.

“I look forward to working with a company that is a force for good in youth sports much in the same way The Tenacity Project has been since its founding,” said Theresa Sherry. “Ryan Boyle had a Hall of Fame career on the field, and the prospect of working with him, and Co-Founder Rob Lindsey is attractive because of who they are off the field as well. The Trilogy team’s focus on events is exciting to me, as it is crucial for young athletes to have the formative experiences that Trilogy works to provide. Along with this new opportunity on Trilogy’s executive team, it remains my mission to continue supporting the growth of girl’s lacrosse and the next generation of leaders through The Tenacity Project’s programs in the Bay
Area and all over the west.”

“We are thrilled to have Theresa join the Trilogy Lacrosse team in a leadership position,” said Ryan Boyle, co-founder and CEO of Trilogy Lacrosse. “She is one of the most accomplished individuals in our sport, achieving excellence as a player, coach, and professional. I cannot wait to work alongside her to create impactful programs for female lacrosse players and teams. I have the utmost respect for her and know she will be a perfect fit for our culture based on the trust we have built over a twenty-five-year relationship.”

In addition to her role as CEO of the Tenacity Project, Theresa Sherry served as Head Coach at Cal Berkeley, Assistant Coach at Amherst and Smith Colleges and is the founder of Sherry Sports LLC, the BearLax Club, and LIT4Women. Sherry was a 7x Ivy League Champion, 2x NCAA National Champion, Ivy League Player of the Year, NCAA Midfielder of the Year, 3x First Team All-American and Tewaaraton Finalist during her time competing in both soccer and lacrosse at Princeton University. Sherry also won the FIL Under 19 World Cup in 1999 while representing Team USA, earning Player of the Game honors in the Championship.

As VP of Girls Lacrosse, Sherry will be responsible for the growth and development of Trilogy Lacrosse’s girls programming, which currently includes Spring Break Training, Tournaments, Winter Leagues, Camps and Clinics. Sherry’s vast relationships across the sport and depth of experience creating dynamic programming will ensure that female players all over the country have the best opportunities to develop, on and off the field, with Trilogy Lacrosse.

Editor’s Note: Trilogy Lacrosse, a Lacrosse All Stars partner, released a new series titled “Trilogy Lacrosse Theatre” to take a look back at memorable lacrosse moments caught on film that feature different members of the Trilogy crew. Beware, Episode 8 features one of the most terrifying lacrosse players to ever step foot in a box, Dan Dawson.

Who is Dan Dawson?

At 38 years old, Dawson is one of the elder statesmen of professional lacrosse still strapping it up for war each weekend. Although the season was cut short due to the coronavirus, Dawson just signed a two-year deal to latch him to his hometown team of the Toronto Rock in 2020.

In 2019, Dawson appearing in all 18 games with San Diego, collecting 29 goals, 59 assists and 88 points in his 19th season. Now in year 20, and with a new team, he still managed to rack up 17 goals in the 10 games he got in 2020. Dawson has used his 6’6” frame to power his way to become one of the greatest scorers the NLL has ever seen.

  • 3x Gold Medalist – Team Canada Indoor (2007, 2011, 2015)
  • 1x Silver Medalist – Team Canada Field (2010)

What’s on the Tube?

One of the few American’s to hold a job in the NLL, Mitch Belisle is only a novice when it comes to the knowledge and expertise of Canadian lacrosse legend Dan Dawson. Although they shared the floor many times over their careers, it’s been since the Boston Blazers final days in 2011 that they shared a bench.

If you want to get involved with box lacrosse in any capacity, Dan Dawson has a wealth of information that will grow the skill set of any lacrosse mind.

From awkward school visits to unlikely championships, Dawson will bring a smile to your face.

Greg Bice and Kyle Sweeney Crush People

Editor’s Note: Trilogy Lacrosse, a Lacrosse All Stars partner, released a new series titled “Trilogy Lacrosse Theatre” to take a look back at memorable lacrosse moments caught on film that feature different members of the Trilogy crew. Episode 7 brings in some defensive heat with Greg Bice and Kyle Sweeney.

Who are Greg Bice and Kyle Sweeney?

The simple answer: two absolutely terrifying defensive pioneers of professional lacrosse.

Bice spent 13 seasons playing professional lacrosse before moving into the world of coaching and lacrosse programming through his own company, Resolute Lacrosse in Central Ohio. Prior to a dominant career in the MLL, Bice was a Texas transplant terrifying attackmen from the Ohio State defense.

– 4x MLL All-Star
– 2x MLL New Balance Sportsman of the Year
– NCAA All-American (2003 and 2004)
– GWLL Conference Player of the Year
– 3x 1st team GWLL selection (2002, 2003, 2004)
– 1999 High School All-American

Sweeney hung it up after 15 years illustrious years in Major League Lacrosse and a storied international career with Team USA. A graduate of Georgetown University, he was a three-time All-American long-stick midfielder. Selected to the MLL All-Star Game nine times, Sweeney has been named All-MLL three times, and has won the Steinfeld Cup four times.

– 9x MLL All-Star
– 3x All-American
– 3x All-MLL
– 4x MLL Champion
– 2000 ECAC Rookie of the Year.
– 2x ECAC Defensive Player of the Year (2002 and 2001)
– 3x All-ECAC First Team

What’s on the Tube?

Mitch Belisle, in his finest (and personal) throwback Riptide jersey, pulled a squad together to talk laying some lumber. With the whole gang back together it’s only appropriate to throw things back to the 2007 MLL Championship game between the LA Riptide and the Philadelphia Barrage. On the Riptide we’ve got Belisle and Bice squaring off with Sweeney and Ryan Boyle on the Barrage.

Spoiler: Bice and Belisle didn’t get to hold a trophy.

But, they did get in their licks. Boyle was on the landing end of an absolute blowup from Bice, and Bice has something to say about Boyle erasing the film from history. Conspiracy? There are no denials.

Go back in time with some of the nastiest men to ever wield a six foot pole.

Episode 6 is a turn towards something different as Mackenzie Maguire joins the program.

Who is Mackenzie Maguire?

Our next guest is a little different from the last five. She’s not a men’s lacrosse star, nor wis she even a dude, but she is a Sales & Marketing Associate as well as the newest National Director at Trilogy and we’re pumped to pick her brain. Mackenzie’s passion for the game has led her to many high school and collegiate accolades before taking her talents to Trilogy Lacrosse.

The two-time All-American and midfielder turned attacker graduated from the University of Mary Washington with BS in Marketing and minor in Sports Management.

  • 2X All-American (2018, 2019)

What’s on the Tube?

Mackenzie is here to talk Regina George, some high school highlight film and for some reason… Florida State football. Mitch Belisle is your usual host and he’s gotta know, is Regina George a legit lacrosse player? If you don’t know, you will soon enough.

There’s nothing like digging through the old hard drives and long forgotten YouTube pages for our old “recruit me” highlight footage. Luckily Mackenzie’s dad was quick with a camera and a bit savvy on the editing side to make sure these moments become permanent history.

Casey Powell Relives Historic Syracuse Comeback

Editor’s Note: Trilogy Lacrosse, a Lacrosse All Stars partner, released a new series titled “Trilogy Lacrosse Theatre” to take a look back at memorable lacrosse moments caught on film that feature different members of the Trilogy crew. Episode 5 picks up with living lacrosse icon Casey Powell.

Who is Casey Powell?

Boy, if you don’t know, this is going to be a hard one to explain. Let’s stick to some lacrosse basics. Casey is the eldest of the three Powell brothers that helped revolutionize the game of lacrosse, all while wearing world-famous #22 at Syracuse. Casey went on to have one of the longest and most decorated careers in the history of professional lacrosse.

Joining the MLL from its inception in 2001, Powell continued his tenure in the league until 2016, similarly joining the NLL in 1999 and, with time off here and there, wrapping up all the way into 2014. Casey Powell, to this day, is the only American player to be named MVP of the NLL. Now, he is a volunteer assistant for the women’s lacrosse program at Northwestern University and growing the game around Chicago.

  • MLL Most Valuable Player (2014)
  • Silver Medal, Team USA field (2006)
  • 2x Bronze Medal, Team USA indoor (2011, 2015)

What’s on the Tube?

Ryan Boyle straight up called it the greatest regular season game of his lifetime.

#3 Syracuse versus #2 Virginia, 1997. First game of the season, in the Dome. Starting his junior season, it was the first time Casey Powell would share the field with his freshman brother, Ryan.

Down 19 to 12 midway through the third quarter, it looked completely in the Hoos’ favor going into the final stretch. At this point, there wasn’t much hope left in the Syracuse defense, so it was Powell strapping up the backpack and taking over the game. Here’s a hint: 13 points.

These are some of the greatest moments in college lacrosse history. Big Facts.

Episode 4 features Matt Striebel reliving eight total periods of lacrosse action from 1999. Enjoy.

Who is Matt Striebel?

A two-sport athlete in college, Matt Striebel left his soccer cleats behind for a prolific professional and international lacrosse career. Now you’ll find “Striebs” as a National Director and staple of Trilogy’s instruction. At his peak he was widely considered the best midfielder in the game. His unique combination of athleticism, versatility, and intelligence set him apart as a dynamic playmaker and offensive force. A champion at every level of the game, Matt set professional records in All Star appearances and games played, while compiling one of the most impressive statistical careers for a midfielder ever.

What’s on the Tube?

Four overtimes later, we had a winner.

Mitch Belisle and Ryan Boyle team up to go on a jog with Matt Striebel through the memory banks of 1999. The reigning NCAA champs of Princeton were on the road in the Carrier Dome for a heavy hitter against Syracuse. Princeton had graduated star-power in Jesse Hubbard, Christian Cook and Corey Popham and were fighting tooth and nail to stay on top. The Tigers offense was now relying on young talent like Matt Striebel to make another tournament run.

It was Syracuse versus Princeton in the 90s. Is there more to say?

Hear about it from the guy who was there.

Flying under the radar through his college career at Providence, Jarrod Neumann put together a breakout season in the inaugural run of the PLL. The Chaos longpole made his name known after wreaking havoc on both ends of the field, chopping up attackman and amongst the league-leaders in the two-point shot. His electric performance earned Neumann the right to claim the first-ever Dave Pietramala Defensive Player of the Year award. Usually covering the top scorer of the other team, Neumann claimed the second spot in long balls as a shooter last season with 5 total.

Barely removed from the playing field, Belisle was one of the most tenacious and physically fit defenseman to go to work in the both the MLL and NLL after a decorated college career at Cornell. Before he traded a helmet for a headset, Belisle captured a few trophies to hold above his head and a gold medal to show for an illustrious career.

  • Team USA 2014
  • MLL 2007 – 2019
  • NLL 2008 – 2019
  • MLL Champion 2011
  • NLL Champion 2017
  • 3x MLL All Star 2011, 2014, 2015
  • NCAA Division I Defenseman of the Year 2007
  • 2x All-American at Cornell 2006 & 2007
  • 2x All-Ivy League

The duo of Mitch Belisle and Ryan Boyle reverse roles this week as Boyle guides Mitch through some old NLL tapes. Remember, Mitch is a defenseman so if you’re coming for goals, see you later. It was the first year for the (now defunct) Boston Blazers and Belisle was one of five Americans on the squad. Coming out of his rookie season with the (also defunct) New York Titans, Belisle was a monster for Boston, racking up three goals, four assists and 104 looseballs in his sophomore campaign.

Editor’s Note: Trilogy Lacrosse, a Lacrosse All Stars partner, released a new series titled “Trilogy Lacrosse Theatre” to take a look back at memorable lacrosse moments caught on film that feature different members of the Trilogy crew. Episode 1 starts with Ryan Boyle breaking down his performance in the 2004 NCAA Quarterfinals. Enjoy.

Who is Ryan Boyle?

These days you’ll find Boyle deep in the trenches at Trilogy as a Co-Founder and CEO and when lacrosse is back on TV, you’ll see his mug on ESPN talking college lacrosse. Before that, he was laying claim of being one of the smartest minds in the game of lacrosse. From Princeton to both the MLL and NLL, Boyle was a major impact to every team he ran with.

They put him in the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame last year, but if that’s not enough, here’s a little more about Ryan Boyle:

  • Princeton University 2001 – 2004
  • MLL 2004 – 2011
  • NLL 2005 – 2011
  • Team USA Gold Medal 2002 & 2010, Silver in 2006
  • US Lacrosse National Hall of Fame Class of 2019
  • 4X All-American at Princeton University
  • 2X Ivy League Player of the Year
  • 3x MLL Champion – 2004, 2006, 2007
  • 1st All-time in Assists in MLL History
  • MLL Rookie of the Year 2004
  • NLL Rookie of the Year 2005
  • NLL Champions Cup Finalist – 2009

Join Mitch Belisle and Ryan Boyle as they dive through Boyle’s 2004 NCAA Quarterfinals highlight tape, recently added by @LacrosseFilmStudy. Boyle and the No. 6 seed Princeton Tigers were facing off with the No. 3 seed Maryland Terrapins after rolling Rutgers in the first round 12-4. Finishing the 2004 regular season at 9-3, the season marked the 14th-straight Ivy League title for Bill Tierney and the Tigers.

This one turned out to be an overtime thriller. We should just let Boyle break it down for you.

Trilogy and Summit Lacrosse Ventures team up for Girls Future Aces

Summit Lacrosse Ventures and Trilogy Lacrosse are pleased to announce the inaugural Girls Future Aces South powered by Northstar Lacrosse – to launch in the summer of 2017. Directed by USC Head Coach Lindsey Munday and Trilogy Girls Programs Manager Amanda Trendell, this elite training event is designed to develop and challenge rising 7th, 8th and 9th grade lacrosse players to maximize their potential as they enter high school and the increasingly competitive recruiting process.

The event partnership will feature a unique and dynamic curriculum combining the best aspects of the Northstar and Trilogy Aces brands. Field sessions will revolve around position-specific training, small group strategies, team concepts, and the Northstar Performance Index. Off-field sessions will focus on the recruiting process and leadership training, further enhancing the overall experience. Following the event, all participants will receive personal evaluations from Trilogy Lacrosse, and attendees will have the potential opportunity to qualify for the 2018 Northstar Invitational Showcase, an invitation-only girls development and exposure camp that has generated over two hundred NCAA Division I commitments.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to expand the Northstar experience geographically and to younger female student athletes”, said Summit Lacrosse Ventures’ CEO and Northstar Lacrosse Co-Founder, Ashley Gersuk Murphy. “We take great pride in positively impacting the development of future leaders, on and off the lacrosse field, and look forward to joining forces with Trilogy. The Girls Future Aces South offers an increasingly unique, cutting edge, and valuable program.”

Echoing this excitement, Trilogy Lacrosse CEO Ryan Boyle said, “the Girls Future Aces South powered by Northstar Lacrosse looks to educate and empower middle school girls on and off the field. Philosophically this partnership also represents how Trilogy approaches events and relationships – we want to work with the best in the industry. Ashley and Summit Lacrosse Ventures are demonstrated leaders and create highly respected and credible girls events. We are thrilled about working with them to provide our Future Aces for girls along with their proven Northstar methodology.”

The Girls Future Aces South will take place at University of Georgia (Athens, GA) from Monday July 17 through Friday July 21 for players graduating in 2021-2023.
